Mission
To ensure that UNIRAZAK graduates are the top choice for employers, enterprises and industries.

To achieve 100% employability for graduates of UNIRAZAK.
Core
Values
In striving to attain these core values, the true Razakian creates positive change and inspires the lives of all those around him or her. While others may claim they produce leaders, at UNIRAZAK, we produce everyday HEROES.
Acceptance of our state of inadequacy and shortcomings
We seek to continue to improve ourselves and to acquire the requisite knowledge and apply it accordingly. We also strive to be humble before the Divine as well as the society, family and fellow beings.
The ability to understand what others are going through.
The understanding will guide us in “doing the right thing”, not just for ourselves and our colleagues, but for those under our care: our students, our family, our community and our country.
To be tough and robust in the face of an increasingly challenging world
We have the mental toughness to compete, to do what is ethical, and to perform our work to fulfil our amanah (obligations) towards those under our care.
To be organised in what we do.
We are disciplined, we have orderly processes, and we are meticulous in our planning and in the completion our tasks. We organise ourselves into a cohesive team, and we help each other to succeed in our work.
Finding new paths and opportunities in the performance of our tasks.
We respect the status quo but we will continue to develop and grow as we believe in our ability to create new realities. In short, we are always seeking progress.
To be wise in our affairs, and avoid being reckless and shallow in our thoughts.
We strive to constantly be on a quest for knowledge for the betterment of those under our care as well as to have good judgment and sense on all matters.

Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK) further cemented its status as one of Malaysia’s preferred private universities by winning not one, but two awards at the recent BrandLaureate’ SMEs Best Brand Awards 2011, organised by the Asia Pacific Brands Foundation (APBF) and held on Thursday night, 12 January 2012 at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa and graced by H.E. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Patron of the APBF.
On behalf of UNIRAZAK, YBhg. Prof. Datuk Dr. Md. Zabid Hj. Abdul Rashid, the former President and Vice Chancellor of Universiti Tun Abdul accepted the following two awards: Best Brands in Education – Tertiary and Best Brands in Brand Management.
- Corporate Branding: Best Brand in Education – Tertiary
- Brand Specialty – Best Brand in Brand Management
YBhg. Prof. Datuk Dr. Zabid said, “These awards are ours because UNIRAZAK has an immensely talented and capable staff who have all contributed immeasurably to UNIRAZAK’s success.”
“In 2009 the decision was made to rebrand ourselves from UNITAR to UNIRAZAK. Cosmetically, we undertook a rebranding exercise with a new acronym, logo and university tagline that reflects our strengths and aspirations – ‘Innovation. Leadership. Entrepreneurship’ The most crucial step, however, was the decision for us to focus on innovative academic programmes that offer niche content, thereby separating us from our competitors. The purpose of our rebranding had little to do with monetary or financial improvements. Rather, we saw a need in the education industry to provide more unique academic programmes that will further propel Malaysia into high-income nation status and developed nation status by 2020.”
UNIRAZAK has pioneered many innovative academic programmes, becoming the first to offer programmes in areas such as Government and Public Policy, Leadership, Entrepreneurship etc. and Global Islamic Finance, a master programme which is the first of its kind in Malaysia. They are also the first to offer an accounting bachelor’s degree in collaboration with CPA Australia, where graduates from this UNIRAZAK course will automatically qualify for CPA Australia membership.
UNIRAZAK’s strategic rebranding decision has paid off handsomely as UNIRAZAK has won not just at the BrandLaureate – SMEs Best Brand Awards 2011, but also the bronze award at the Putra Brand Awards (Education and Learning) 2011 (Malaysia’s largest consumer-based awards) and SME Negara from SME Recognition Award. With these awards in hand, UNIRAZAK has won the recognition from Malaysia’s leading consumer-based awards and industry-based awards. With these awards testifying to the strength of UNIRAZAK’s brand and the undeniable niche andunique content offered by its academic programmes, UNIRAZAK is poised for a promising future in realising its vision to become ‘The Leading Institution in providing Quality Education and Human Capital in ‘Niche’ Areas among Emerging Economies’

Asia's Best B-School Award
Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK), one of Malaysia’s foremost universities in innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurship, is proud to announce that it was recently honoured as “Asia’s Best B-School for Outstanding Contribution to Education”. YBhg. Prof. Datuk Dr. Md. Zabid Hj Abdul Rashid, the former President and Vice Chancellor, received the award at the recent 2nd Asian B-School Awards 2011 held at Suntec Singapore on 22 July 2011.
The Asian B-School Awards are regarded as one of the most prestigious awards in the academic world and are presented by CMO Asia with the CMO Council as its Strategic Partner and Stars of the Industry Group as a research partner. The awards are presented to individuals and institutions which have surpassed several levels of excellence and have set an example of being a role model providing exemplary leadership, building institutions through Leadership, Innovation, and Academic and Industry interfaces. The basic criteria for nomination were quality input, academic output, placements, faculty and purpose, and the institution’s vision and mission.
The CMO Asia Advisory Board and the Advisory Council of the World Bank Congress were tasked with identifying Asia’s best business schools. These included prestigious universities from about 29 participating countries including Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Japan, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Singapore, Israel, UAE and many more.
The jury included dignitaries such as Bhaskar Chatterjee, Secretary to the Government of India, Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises; Michael McDonald, Global Chairman, World HRD Congress; Jonathan Peters, Global Chairman, Stars of the Industry Group; Dr. Prasad Medury, Partner, Amrop India Consultants Pvt Ltd and many others. In addition to winning the regional “Asia’s Best B-School for Outstanding Contribution to Education” award, UNIRAZAK was also honoured in March this year with the bronze award in the Putra Brand Awards (Education and Learning), Malaysia’s largest consumer-based awards.
UNIRAZAK specialises in providing niche academic programmes that offer a unique and rewarding alternative to conventional, mainstream academic programmes. Examples include degrees in entrepreneurship, leadership, Islamic finance, taxation, insurance, retail and hypermarket, and others.
Bronze award in the Putra Brand Awards (Education and Learning)
Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK) further cemented its status as one of Malaysia’s premier private universities by winning the bronze award in the Putra Brand Awards (Education and Learning). Held on Friday 11th March at One World Hotel, Bandar Utama and graced by HRH the Sultan of Selangor, the Putra Brand Awards are Malaysia’s largest consumer-based awards – 6000 consumers were surveyed online to determine the winners.
The winners are based on various factors such as consumer brand awareness, brand relevance, and usage intent. UNIRAZAK’s win is remarkable considering that just over 2 years ago, the university went through a “strategic makeover” and transformed itself at a fundamental level.
Taking the bronze in the Putra Brand Awards is an impressive feat considering the relative youth of the university’s new strategy. YBhg. Prof. Datuk. Dr. Md. Zabid. Hj. Abdul Rashid, the former President and Vice Chancellor of UNIRAZAK, says “UNIRAZAK began a journey a few years ago to transform from a hybrid university offering conventional and online programmes to a more niche university offering programmes that are more specialised and exclusive. We see this shift in strategy beginning to pay off as we are better enabled to achieve our vision and mission through our new and innovative programme content.”
UNIRAZAK offers a range of niche academic programmes that are not readily available at most local universities – UNIRAZAK has pioneered many academic programmes, becoming the first to offer innovative degrees in areas such as Government and Public Policy, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, etc, and their Global Islamic Finance master programme is the first of its kind in Malaysia.
This up-and-coming university is rapidly raising the ranks due to the vision of its leaders and management, the commitment and dedication of its staff, and the quality of its products.
Prof. Datuk Dr. Md. Zabid says “We have also been very fortunate to build partnerships with many institutions. Some that we have started working with over the past 2 years include Ministry of Human Resources (Department of Skills Development), PUNB, Amanah Raya Berhad, Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM), Malaysian Association of Tax Accountants (MATA), CPA Australia, UEM etc. All of these new partners, in addition to the ones we have made before such as Bank Rakyat, INCEIF, Ministry of Defence, IBFIM, FPAM, and many others, have enhanced the content of our academic offerings and positioned us well in pursuit of our vision and mission.”
“I attribute UNIRAZAK’s success to these key contributors and more, such as the leadership of our Board of Trustees and Board of Directors and the hard work of our staff. From the top-down, we all strive to achieve our university’s vision and mission. I deeply thank all involved and ask that they continue to work and support us to achieve our vision and become ‘The Leading Institution in providing Quality Education and Human Capital in ‘niche’ Areas among Emerging Economies’.

The design of the mace is divided into three main components representing the three levels of university study namely the Bachelor’s degree, the Master’s degree and the Doctor of Philosophy. The three main components are:
- The upper part is known as ‘the torch’
- The middle part is known as ‘the chalice’
- The lower part is known as ‘the shaft’
All these elements are designed to reflect the University’s commitment towards realising the vision, mission and objectives of the University.

The chalice portrays the main function of the university in pursuing knowledge. The name of the university engraved in Jawi script represents determination and faith, which is the fundamental thrust of university education. The motif of the gold thread ‘songket’ at the lower part of the chalice expresses the university’s aspiration to continue its knowledge dissemination while upholding Malaysian traditional values and culture.
The logo of the university which is surrounded by carvings of Malaysia’s official national flower, the Hibiscus, signifies the philosophy of the University and the dynamism of the various academic programmes offered.

The torch engraved on the top end of the mace, adapted from the logo of UNIRAZAK, symbolises the ultimate role of the University as a beacon of light that spreads knowledge throughout the national, regional and global communities. The five facets of the mace symbolises the five pillars of the ‘Rukun Negara’ or National Commandments which are constantly upheld under any circumstances. The name of the University is engraved around the base of the torch in Roman script, signifying the unity of the whole community of the university.

The shaft symbolises the readiness to contribute knowledge and expertise for the advancement and development of the people and the nation. The Qur’anic verses from Surah Al-Mujadalah (58:11) and Az-Zumar (39:9) contain the call for courage in seeking knowledge and upholding the truth, which reminds us of our unending responsibility to nurture, protect and celebrate academic achievement among students, faculty and staff. The ‘Pending’ or Malay belt buckle depicts the energy, power and ability in producing dynamic scholars who are pragmatic, creative and innovative to contribute towards the advancement of Malaysian society and the country.
