Programme Overview

The Doctor of Philosophy programme aims to nurture graduates to be researchers and scholars who are capable of generating critical, creative, and original research ideas and formulating theoretical propositions for an extensive academic research in the business and management discipline that leads to a significant contribution to academia, industry, and society.

The programme aims to encourage and guide students to pursue research that advances knowledge and their discipline while developing relevant research skills. It also seeks to equip students with a variety of research methods and forms of inquiry to help them explore the frontiers of knowledge in business and management research. In addition, the programme aims to enhance students’ ability to articulate and communicate their research findings effectively through both oral presentations and written reports.

> Admission Requirements

  1. A Master's Degree in a business or related field as accepted by the UNIRAZAK Senate; OR
  2. Other qualifications equivalent to a Master's Degree as accepted by the UNIRAZAK Senate.

> Notes

For Doctoral Degree by Research as stated in the MQA Standards: Master's and Doctoral Degree:

  1. There shall be no direct entry from a Bachelor's Degree to a Doctoral Degree.
  2. Candidates with a Bachelor's Degree who are registered in a Master's Degree by Research programme may apply to convert their candidature to a Doctoral Degree programme.
  3. The application for conversion must be submitted within one (1) year after registration in the Master's Degree programme.
  4. Approval of the conversion application is subject to:
    1. Demonstrating competency and capability to conduct research at the Doctoral level;
    2. A rigorous internal assessment conducted by UNIRAZAK; and
    3. Approval by the UNIRAZAK Senate.

> English Language Requirements

For postgraduate studies, international students are required to achieve one of the following:

  • A minimum score of Band 6.0 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)*; OR
  • A minimum score of 60 in the Internet-Based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT)*; OR
  • A minimum score of 168 (CEFR B2 Equivalent); OR
  • A minimum score of 59 in the Pearson Test of English (PTE); OR
  • A minimum score of 169 in the Cambridge English Qualifications and Tests; OR
  • A minimum score of Band 4 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET); OR
  • A recognised first degree undertaken in the English medium.

> Note

A conditional offer letter will be issued to international students who have not yet met the English Language Proficiency Requirement.
