Synopsis

The course examines learning theories (classical and operant conditionings, social, cognitive and constructivist learning and brain-based learning) that could shape and motivate learning behaviors. This course also aligns these theories with instructional design to maximise student's potential to learn and teacher's potiential to teach effectively. It is equally crucial to cover learner's diversity in terms of their learning styles, preferences, personality traits and multiple intelligences that have some influences on theor learning behaviours.

Learning Outcomes

  • Compare and contrast theories of learning and their impact on student learning behaviours
  • Design teaching sessions based on social, cognitive and constructivist learning theories
  • Conduct a case study on how student's diversity (personality traits, learning styles and preferences and multiple intelligences) is considered, to promote conducive learning environment, responsibily.
  • Conduct a training/workshop to a group of educators/teacher trainees based on a lesson plan that is grounded on the appropriate learning theories for a target group of students
