The Graduate School of Business of UNIRAZAK places students from various backgrounds and Muhamad Firdaus Jamal is one of them.

As a busy Chief Financial Officer who is ambitious and has a passion for continuous success, a nudge from a good friend was all he needed to decide on taking on another challenge and pursue his education while working. Muhamad Firdaus Jamal graduated with a 3.95 CGPA and received the Best Student Award.

UR: How does it feel to receive the Best Student Award?

MF: I don’t have anything much to say except that I am very honoured that UNIRAZAK chose me for this award. If it was up to me, I believe there are many other students who deserve this award. I am just an ordinary person and I believe education is for everyone regardless of their social-economic background, politics and even demographic background. Nevertheless, I’m definitely grateful.

UR: It has been a year since the pandemic hit us, can you share some of the challenges you went through in the new normal.

MF: When you’ve been driving on the same road every day, it is easy to start thinking that “Hey, let’s try a new road” but I never tried to do so and I have stuck to the same road ever since. I am lucky because the road I am using now is still beneficial to me as it was and that road for me is knowledge in IT. With the pandemic happening currently, my prior knowledge in IT has been really helpful. And for that, it has made me among the lucky ones, even more so when that road led me to UNIRAZAK. It has provided me with good lecturers and professors, excellent learning materials and also friends. These are the three key major factors that I believe are all important. They are highly correlated and they should come together, and I get all these things at UNIRAZAK.

UR: What was your favourite part about studying at UNIRAZAK?

MF: Friends. I made a lot of friends from different backgrounds, different views, and ways of thinking. We studied together and created a lot of memories.

UR: Which instructor(s) influenced you most?

MF: I really don’t have a favourite as all of them played a different role for me. Each of them brings different values and has their own strength. All of our lecturers, professors, are our favourites.

UR: What is one piece of advice you would give to new students?

MF: If you give me a minute, I can become a good person. If you give me an hour, I will become a great person. If you give me a lifetime, I will be unbeatable. So, learning is a lifelong process. Please continue learning until you feel that you’ve become unbeatable. Once you’ve reached that stage, you can stop learning. In life, you’ll know. I would also want the students to know that if you want to fall, fall forward because at least you can see what is in front of you. Embrace it and keep moving forward.
