Synopsis

This subject introduces students to the scope of “conflict”, which is inevitable, especially in the workplace setting. Tensions and incompatibilities are common characteristics of the relationship and due to this, conflicts are to be expected. It must be resolved and managed. Hence conflict management mechanisms must be in place, and negotiation is one very important tool to assist in this regard.

 

Learning Outcomes

  • To distinguish vital issues in relation to conflict and its resolution, especially in negotiation.
  • To explain theories and the practice of ways conflicting parties meet and negotiate to overcome conflicts.
  • To interpret the roles of conflicting parties and negotiation strategies.
