Synopsis

Computers are now so prevalent in our society that their importance hardly needs mentioning. Nevertheless, the adoption of a new technology may results in unanticipated effects. This course highlights numerous issues that are raised as the Internet expands into human everyday life such as privacy, reliability and risks, freedom of speech, computer crimes and intellectual property rights.

Learning Outcomes

  • Study ethics, privacy, freedom of speech and intellectual property to deal with computer ethic problems.
  • Explain the underlying concepts of computer technology, ethical behavior, and professional codes of ethics to make rational decisions.
  • Identify reasoned judgments about policy issues regarding computing technology.
