Synopsis

This course enables the students to have a working knowledge of import and export procedures in Malaysia. It provides a practical insight to the functions of the various divisions, ranks of customs officers, branches around the country, ports and airports, points of entry, movement of goods by land, sea or air, customs and shipping documentation, technique of classifying goods under the correct tariff codes, valuation of goods for customs purposes, applying for various exemptions and licences, knowledge on how to use the various facilities available, the role of forwarding agents, enforcement techniques, the various types of audits conducted by the Customs Department and finally how to appeal to the Customs Appeal Tribunal.

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe import-export procedures and documentation and the various ports, airports and points of entry.
  • Analyse the insight of customs requirements for the various types of goods moving in and out of Malaysia.
  • Evaluate the modes of transport and the documentation required and the administrative part of import and export duties and able to make decisions and solve problems relating to Customs.
