Synopsis

Operations Management examines the design of systems for sourcing, production and delivery of goods and services. The purpose of this course is to focus on techniques for planning, scheduling and controlling organizational resources in manufacturing and service organizations. Specific emphasis will be placed on concepts and techniques that are useful in the management of cost, quality, productivity, and efficiency.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain the various production and operations design decisions and how they relate to the overall strategies of organizations.
  • Demonstrate quality management practice in organizations and how total quality management and six-sigma facilitate organizational effectiveness.
  • Identify contemporary operations and manufacturing organizational approaches and the supply-chain management activities and the renewed importance of this aspect of organizational strategy.
