The Contemporary Business Issues course examines a number of contemporary and emerging global issues to familiarise students with the business environment they are likely to be operating in as accountants. It also uses contemporary issues as a vehicle for advancing the development of professional values, ethics and attitudes by students.

• Explain roles of strategic business adviser and individual experience and connectedness to assist businesses in making sense of complex and unpredictable environments.
• Discuss the effects of disclosure requirements and the underlying assumptions in current research on the origins and effects of contemporary and emerging global issues.
• Explain the business advantages and disadvantages of adopting knowledge sharing and social networking approaches and of using social media to improve inter-personal communication, particularly with non-accountants.
