This course offers students an informational view on the roles and functions of a school counsellor, the profession, and other important components of services. It also introduces the current school counselling programmes and services which help the students to understand and should they in future becomes a school counsellor, they may have the knowledge and disposition to carry out their jobs effectively and efficiently.

• Define the roles of a counsellor in an educational institution
• State counselling programmes and services needed in schools and youth centres
• Describe the three important areas of counselling (e.g. academic, career, and personal development) with regards to student development
• Design a basic guidance and counselling programme for students at an educational institution
