Synopsis

Instructional coaching is a practice that is gaining popularity in schools all over the world, based on research into the most successful models for continuous adult professional development. This course provides a platform for students to learn about benefits of instructional coaching through research studies, theories and model of coaching for improving teacher effectiveness and teacher leadership. Students get the opportunity to have a hands on experience in conducting instructional coaching activities with peers, “knowledgeable other” and learning communities.

Learning Outcomes

  • Discuss the differences between coaching, mentoring and instructional coaching based on literature search.
  • Build instructional capacity through instructional coaching by Implementing coaching sessions with peers
  • Implement a collaborative learning efforts using Professional Learning Community (PLC) approach
  • Implement a PLC approach with peers using Lesson Study
