Synopsis

The course covers economic growth, consumption, investment, business cycles, unemployment, inflation, monetary and fiscal policy, financial markets and international macroeconomics. The course is also devoted to microeconomics foundations of macroeconomics, demand management policy, the neo-classical (Solow) growth model, inflation and unemployment.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify principal concepts, and theories of Macroeconomic analysis through graphics and mathematical techniques.
  • Use relevant macroeconomics techniques graphic and algebraic to analyse real economic problems.
  • Identify how different schools ofthought approach the analysis of macroeconomic problems.
  • Discuss the areas of agreement and remaining controversy among different schools of thought.
