Synopsis

The course examines the student's understanding of the role and scope of International Human Resource Management and its significance to the business. In this subject, the students are exposed to the scope of the “differentials” in HR Management. They are introduced to the fact that HR management can be different at times, and this is attributable to the fact that organizations exist in different geographical locations because of business opportunities and the need to operate in different areas of the world. Knowledge of the diversity of cultures and expatriate assignments is sometimes relevant. Other important issues are international employee relations, comparative HRM practices, and the management of multinational corporations is also to be covered. Finally, there is also the relevance of attention to globalisation and its impact on HRM.
