There are many academic disciplines, combine together that be the grounding principles of what to teach, how to deliver and why we do what we are doing in the field of education. The educational study derives its character from Philosophical, Historical and Social Foundations of Education. The course examines the importance of various philosophical bases of education and to understand the impact of social theories on education, equality/ inequality of educational opportunities, and educational management. This course will also discuss the trends of social changes, cultural changes and their impact on curriculum, instruction and assessment; and teacher professionalism.

• Analyze the philosophical base on education within different schools of thought
• Relate the importance of sociological basis of knowledge on educational thoughts and practices
• Discuss the impact of philosophical and Sociological foundation for classroom teachers
• Discuss the impact of equity and equality to teacher practices in the classroom
• Discuss the translation of NEP to practices in Malaysian education system
