This course essentially guides students to understand the philosophy of science, theory construction, theory testing, and causality. With appropriate epistemological grounding, the students should be aware of techniques and issues which strengthen or threaten the validity of studies. This foundation would allow students to critically appreciate the philosophical approaches of scientific research, process of problems formation and formulation, as well as the research paradigms of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed method approaches.

• Explain justification for the choice of methodology for the field of chosen research.
• Integrate appropriate research methods and techniques to a research project
• Identify and apply the use of appropriate sampling techniques, data collection methods, and data analysis techniques for different research purposes.
• Construct a clear and comprehensive research proposal and adopt new ideas and become autonomous learners
