Ahmad Firdaus Bin Ahmad Azman, a MARA-sponsored graduate, has defied the odds on the global stage, currently holding the prestigious AI Ethics Lead Assessor certification (CertifAIEd Lead Assessor) from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Standards Association (IEEE SA) in the USA. He is the first and currently the only individual from Malaysia to achieve this remarkable feat.

Before embarking on his journey at UCL, Ahmad Firdaus excelled in his undergraduate studies at UNIRAZAK, earning First Class Honours and garnering several accolades, including the Best Academic Award, Vice Chancellor’s Award, and ‘Anugerah Sarjana Terengganu’ in 2018. This is on top of other international awards from a US Department of State programme and the President’s List Award from the former President of Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) within the same year.

Continuing his academic pursuits at UCL from 2021 to 2022, Firdaus completed a thesis on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) standards with his team and the British Standards Institution (BSI) as their partnering organization. This thesis was then archived by The AI Standards Hub, a UK Government initiative, and became one of the references for Canada’s Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society (SRI) 2023 publication.

Firdaus is now serving as an AI Ethicist for Verdas AI, a German-based AI education company, where he is actively involved in various forms of research, writing, training, auditing, and development of ethical standards for global AI systems. He aspires to further elevate his expertise in AI through a PhD program in the future.

Adding an intriguing twist to his story, Ahmad Firdaus holds this groundbreaking certification and is actively involved in training numerous AI experts worldwide to attain the same recognition. Presently serving as an AI Ethicist at Verdas AI, a cutting-edge AI specialist company based in Germany, he continues to push the boundaries of AI ethics and innovation.

Now actively engaged in diverse forms of research, auditing, and developing ethical standards for global AI systems, Ahmad Firdaus aspires to further elevate his expertise to a Doctor of Philosophy in AI technology.
