KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 (Bernama) -- A total of 744 graduates who enrolled at Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK) during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic received their respective scrolls yesterday during the university’s 22nd convocation ceremony at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur here.
UNIRAZAK, in its statement, said the spotlight of the class of 2023 shone on two exceptional groups - the working adults and students from lower-income households. It said the university warmly welcomed the working population to upskill, expand their knowledge and deepen their expertise in their chosen fields of interest via the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL), an alternative pathway to UNIRAZAK's educational offerings, embracing mature students at any age or stage of
life.
“UNIRAZAK offers innovative, alternative pathways to higher education for those who may have deferred further studies due to various reasons, including financial constraints, health conditions, family commitments or others. “To lend support to high potential students facing financial constraints to further their studies, UNIRAZAK partners with the country’s leading investment house, Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), whose CSR focus is to provide financial support and invest in young talents,” read the statement.
UNIRAZAK Pro-Chancellor Datuk Mohamed Nizam Tun Abdul Razak said the chosen theme for the convocation, "Empowering Dreams" held particular significance this year, as the distinguished cohort had navigated the uncharted waters of education during the new normal.
He said the theme served as a powerful testament to their resilience and the university's commitment to providing a dynamic environment and a nurturing ecosystem to help the students achieve their academic aspirations.
In the same statement, UNIRAZAK Vice Chancellor Prof Datin Paduka Dr Samsinar Md Sidin applauded the resilience of the class of 2023 in completing their studies and affirmed UNIRAZAK’s commitment to academic excellence on an international scale. Samsinar said 2023 had been a remarkable year for UNIRAZAK as the number of students increased almost 20 per cent from 2022 and 91 per cent of its students
secured employment within six months of their graduation.
“Despite the challenges in the employment landscape, UNIRAZAK has succeeded in producing graduates who are well-equipped and sought after by employers,” she added.
Meanwhile, Annur Syafira Khairus, who completed her Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) with outstanding results in the CPA (Certified Practising Accountant) Australia Examination, attaining one distinction and four credits, was announced as the recipient of the prestigious Chancellor’s Award.
According to the statement, two posthumous degrees were presented yesterday to the families of the late Raj Deep Kaur and Allahyarham Amirul Salamat.
